The catch here is in education being, for the most part, in individual member states' agenda and according the current EU treaties, EU as such cannot directly (without member states' consensus; check TODOs) determine the education policies. However, there are certainly some specific policies that could be introduced on the EU level, namely:
- Large scale internationalisation of teacher's education (ideally, it should be common to have a year of experience teaching abroad even for teachers in primary and secondary education). This is a way of getting some member states' education systems (such as the Czech one) out of 19th century.
(One way of implementing this could be via the existing Erasmus+ programme.)
- Spreading the Finnish model of media education throughout Europe as an important mean of protection against fake news and PR manipulation.
