The global trend in drug policy nowadays is regulating the production and consumption of cannabis instead of the prohibition that we still witness across Europe. Evidence shows that regulation leads to lesser prevalence of use in teenagers which is very important because people with developing brains can be expected to sustain the biggest amount of damage caused by the consumption of cannabis. Regulation also allows for quality control of the sold cannabis flowers and extracts which leads to lesser harm for the individual user. The EU should advocate for the regulation of cannabis in the individual member states as means of restricting the black market.
